uPVC windows

Replacement windows, from one misted unit to a whole elevation. The single window is a job we are happy to do.

Misting between the panes means the seal on the glazed unit has failed. Sometimes the unit alone can be changed and the frame stays; more often, on a frame of that age, the hinges and the gaskets have gone too and replacing the window is the better spend. We will tell you which you are looking at.

Where the frame is going, the whole thing comes out — frame, sill and all — and the reveal is made good inside and out. Not packed with expanding foam and a bead of silicone over the top.

Detail

What that means on the job

One window is a job

No minimum order. If you have one failed unit on the back of the house, ring us.

A-rated double glazing

Warm-edge spacers and a low-emissivity coating as standard.

Made good inside and out

Proper trims, sealed correctly, plaster reveal left tidy.

Certificated through building control

Notifiable work under the building regulations. Yours goes to the council for inspection and you get the certificate from them.

Straight answers

The part of the conversation most quotes leave out.

Right for you if

  • Misted or blown double glazed units
  • Windows that no longer shut properly, or have failed hinges
  • Single replacements the bigger firms will not quote for
  • Doing a window at the same time as garage work while we are on site

Worth knowing first

  • Sometimes the glazed unit alone can be replaced and the frame is fine. That is cheaper and we will say so.
  • Windows near a door or close to the floor need safety glass by law, which costs a little more. It is in the quote.

Questions

Common questions

My window is misted between the panes. Do I need a whole new window?

Not always. If the frame, hinges and gaskets are sound, the glazed unit alone can be changed for a good deal less. We look before we quote.

Will you replace just one window?

Yes. Single windows are a normal job for us and there is no minimum order.

Do I need building regulations approval?

Replacement windows are notifiable work. We are not currently in a self-certification scheme, so instead of signing it off ourselves we notify your council's building control, who inspect the work and issue the certificate. You get the same paperwork either way and we will tell you the council fee before you order.

Can I get grey or anthracite windows?

Yes, and they are a good match if you are having an anthracite garage door and roof.
