Horizontal insulated panels that lift vertically and run back under the ceiling. The best-sealed and best-insulated door of the four, and the one to choose if the garage is becoming a room.
The door is built from hinged panels, typically 42mm thick with foam between two steel skins. It lifts straight up the face of the opening and then folds back on tracks under the ceiling, so like a roller door it does not swing out over the drive.
What sets it apart is the sealing. There is a rubber seal at the floor, brush or rubber seals up the sides and across the head, and the panels seal against each other. If you want the garage genuinely usable in January, this is the door.

Sealed on all four sides
Bottom rubber, side and head seals, and seals between the panels. It makes a real difference to draughts and driven rain.

Full width to drive through
The tracks run inside the reveal, so you keep effectively the whole opening width.
Finger-trap protection
The panel joints are shaped so fingers cannot be caught between them as the door closes.

Worth knowing first
- It needs headroom and side room. Low-headroom gear gets it down to around 100mm, but there is a limit, and we will tell you at the survey.
- The tracks run back along the ceiling, so anything stored up there or a light in the wrong place may need moving.
- It costs more than an up-and-over. You are paying for insulation and sealing, so it only makes sense if you want those.

Common questions
How much headroom does a sectional door need?
Standard gear wants around 210mm above the opening. Low-headroom gear gets that down to roughly 100mm. We measure it at the survey rather than guessing from the doorway.
Are sectional doors worth the extra over a roller?
If you want the garage warm and dry, yes. If you just want a door that works and looks tidy on a short drive, a roller door is the better value.
Can I have one in a colour to match the house?
Yes. Beyond the standard range they can be finished to a RAL colour, which adds to the lead time. We will give you both prices.
Do they work with an existing opener?
Sometimes, but rarely well. A sectional door normally comes with an operator matched to its weight and travel, and that is what carries the warranty.
